
































The drawings that I do that come closest to gestures are the sketches that I use when explaining a concept or project–sometimes they merely show positions of objects or some certain detail. If done quickly enough or with little enough care, they become indecipherable later. At the time of creation, however, they can serve an illustrative purpose.
Usually the drawing requires my verbal description alongside them, but occasionally a sketch is for me alone and merely requires that its meaning not be forgotten. It is because only certain salient features need to be detailed that the sketches come to be gesture drawings–by focusing on the essence of one part instead of on the whole.
